The Elan Valley Run started with a simple idea.
Get a group of Minis together and drive some of the best roads in Wales, properly.
Not a car park meet.
Not a short loop and a photo stop.
A full weekend built around driving, time spent together, and a setting that rewards both.
What began as a small gathering has grown steadily over the years. Word spread, people came back, and the convoy got longer. By 2026, the event reaches its tenth year, with Minis arriving from across the UK and further afield.
The growth has never changed the focus.
The roads come first.
The Elan Valley was chosen because it works from behind the wheel. Long, flowing sections. Good visibility. Quiet stretches where a convoy can move without feeling forced. The route has been refined over time, not drawn once and left alone.

Sunday’s run through the reservoirs is the centrepiece of the weekend. Hundreds of Minis moving together through the valley, watched by spectators who know exactly why those roads matter.
But the event has never been just about one drive.
The weekend is designed with a natural rhythm. Arrival and settling in on Friday. Driving and exploration on Saturday.
The main run on Sunday. Time in between to talk, eat, walk, watch, and relax. Some of the best moments happen away from the driver’s seat.
Base camp sits at the heart of it all, giving the weekend a sense of place rather than feeling temporary. People camp, stay nearby, return year after year, and recognise familiar faces.
It’s also an event that welcomes families. Children, dogs, long conversations by tents, shared meals, late evenings and early starts. It feels lived in, not staged.
